ALPHA DESTROYER Give a New-Generation Twist to a KISS Classic
Attacking A KISS Classic
American metal/rock collective ALPHA DESTROYER have announced their special rendition of KISS’ iconic track “God of Thunder.” While preserving the spirit of classic KISS, the band brings a different approach to the song by infusing it with their own high-energy musical identity. The release will arrive as a limited-edition 7" vinyl.
Instead of basing their version on the widely known Bob Ezrin-produced recording, ALPHA DESTROYER built their interpretation around Paul Stanley’s early demo version of the track. Guitarist Eric Sexton-Dorsett explained that this choice allowed the band to create a faster and more aggressive structure, combining the classic hard rock foundation with Judas Priest-inspired double bass drumming.
The new single will be released on August 11 as a hand-numbered, clear vinyl 7" featuring a limited-edition lathe-cut pressing. Designed as a collector’s item, this exclusive release aims to offer something special for both the band’s fans and dedicated physical music enthusiasts.
ALPHA DESTROYER bring together a powerful lineup featuring key figures from different generations. The project includes CRASHDÏET vocalist Martin Sweet, BUCKCHERRY bassist Kelly LeMieux, Eric Sexton-Dorsett, and drummer Ryan McPhaill. The band’s debut album “Fast Lane” was released as a 10-track offering that merges a high-energy rock attitude with darker and more experimental metal textures.
Formed in 2022, ALPHA DESTROYER blend traditional metal, hard rock, and more chaotic extreme influences into a single sonic framework. Their music creates a unique balance between DEF LEPPARD’s melodic approach and the more aggressive atmospheres associated with VOIVOD and MORBID ANGEL.
Continuing the journey that began with “Fast Lane,” the band are already working on new material while preparing plans for live performances in 2026. Driven by their own motto, “This Isn’t a Band. It’s a Warning,” ALPHA DESTROYER continue to reshape classic rock heritage through the energy of modern metal.
