New Arckanum EP Announcement: Motestandarin on the Way
Swedish black metal cult act Arckanum returns with a new EP titled Motestandarin. According to the release schedule announced by Darkness Shall Rise Productions, the digital version of the EP will be made available on June 22, while the 7” vinyl edition will see an international release on July 20.
The new EP features two tracks taken from the band’s forthcoming tenth studio album. Titled Beswærilsin and scheduled for release in October 2026, the record marks a new phase in Arckanum’s long-standing creative journey. Motestandarin stands as one of the first tangible steps in this ongoing process.

The 7” vinyl edition will be issued in an extremely limited run. Restricted to just 218 hand-numbered copies, this special pressing will be available exclusively through the official Darkness Shall Rise webshop. Alongside its digital presence, this collector-focused physical release is expected to attract particular interest from dedicated collectors.
Formed in 1992 and operating as a one-man project led by Shamaatae, Arckanum remains one of the most established names in the history of Swedish black metal. Over a career spanning more than three decades, the project has released nine full-length albums and numerous EPs, consistently maintaining its distinct dark musical trajectory.
Notably, Beswærilsin will be the band’s first full-length album in approximately nine years. In addition, two further albums, already completed by Shamaatae, are also scheduled for release in the coming years via Darkness Shall Rise. This points toward a particularly intensive creative period ahead for the Arckanum universe.
