Bay Area progressive metal band BABY ON A RAMPAGE have released a music video for ‘Failure of One’s Name’ ahead of their upcoming EP, “Forgive My Figure.” Set for release on November 12, 2026, the track draws on the band members’ personal experiences, bringing together themes of identity, loss, self-discovery, and healing.

The song’s personal dimension emerges through the different experiences of drummer Lyra Renninger and guitarist and vocalist Ash Lee. Renninger explains that the track grew out of her own journey towards embracing her identity as a trans woman. She describes how this part of herself remained hidden in the dark for a long time, with the song reflecting the difficult experiences that shaped her and the path that ultimately led towards healing.

For Ash Lee, ‘Failure of One’s Name’ is connected to the struggle to reclaim a sense of self after a profound loss. Following the death of her uncle, Lee felt as though she had lost a significant part of who she was. The song addresses the process of finding oneself again and rebuilding a sense of inner wholeness.

Musically, the track showcases the band’s approach to combining heavy passages with melodic choruses. Its arrangement pairs weighty metal sections with expansive melodies, leaving room for layered vocals and harmonies.

With “Forgive My Figure,” BABY ON A RAMPAGE seek to develop the musical foundation established on their debut full-length, “Fall With Disgrace,” into a more cohesive sound. Co-produced with Scott Proctor, the EP finds the band moving towards more dynamic songwriting and melodic structures. Proctor, who has toured with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and worked on the technical crews for MACHINE HEAD and TESTAMENT, also contributed his expertise in harmonies and arrangement to the process.

Guitarist and vocalist Ash Lee describes the new release as the band’s most musically and melodically developed work to date. According to Lee, the more direct metal influences of their earlier material have given way to a more melodic approach that pairs dark, heavy verses with powerful, vocal-driven choruses. While their previous album explored a range of styles, the band aim to create a more cohesive whole this time around, with each song retaining its own identity.

The members of BABY ON A RAMPAGE first came together as children through the BANDWORKS music programme, when they were between nine and eleven years old. Their musical interests initially revolved around acts such as METALLICA, GREEN DAY, and PRIMUS before expanding to include bands like GOJIRA, MASTODON, TOOL, SLIPKNOT, and LAMB OF GOD. During their teenage years, the band played more than 100 shows across various parts of the United States and Canada.

“Forgive My Figure” features five tracks and arrives on November 12, 2026. Following the EP’s first single, ‘Reclaim’, ‘Failure of One’s Name’ offers a second glimpse into the band’s new phase, in which a more melodic musical direction meets deeply personal storytelling.
