Ceremonial Worship Return With New Album
One of the darker names emerging from the Greek black metal underground, Ceremonial Worship have resurfaced with their third studio album, Between Sleep and Death. The band is preparing to release the new record on July 31 via Eternal Death in CD format.
Founded in 2016 by High Priest C.W., Ceremonial Worship first drew attention within the underground through a series of early EPs. Their 2021 split release The Pact of Morbid Conspiracy with Filipino black metal act Omenfilth marked the band’s first collaboration under the Eternal Death banner.
Released after the limited-edition pressing of Ode to Dionyssus in 2022, Seven Gateways to Eternal Misanthropy pushed the band’s musical identity toward a harsher and more experimental direction. Moving away from the traditional Hellenic black metal approach, Ceremonial Worship embraced a darker and more abstract path through unsettling riff structures, suffocating atmosphere, and an aggressively oppressive sound.
Having renewed its lineup in 2025, the band now enters a new era with the return of The Whisperer of Night on vocals. Strengthened further by the addition of Petros P. on bass and George K. behind the drums, the lineup once again sees High Priest C.W. handling guitar duties.
While remaining firmly rooted in its origins, the new album Between Sleep and Death also draws heavily from the second wave of Greek black metal. Channeling the spirit of early Kawir, Nocternity, and Legion of Doom, the record stands out through its warlike rhythmic pulse, harsh production, and ritualistic darkness. Across eight tracks, the band preserves the traditional Hellenic essence while sharpening its own identity with greater conviction than ever before.
The first track unveiled from the album, “Hate Spells,” already signals that Ceremonial Worship are set to push both their aggression and atmospheric intensity even further in this new chapter.
