Finnish black metal outfit CHAMBER OF UNLIGHT is counting down to the release of their second studio album, “Avernus”. Set for release on July 31 via Werewolf Records, the album has been made available in its entirety ahead of the official release, offering fans a full preview of the band’s dark and atmospheric vision.

Founded in 2016 as the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Necrosis, CHAMBER OF UNLIGHT quickly evolved into a powerful entity bringing together experienced figures from Finland’s underground metal scene. With a background that includes acts such as DEATHCHAIN, AJATTARA, SHADE EMPIRE, and TROLLHEIMS GROTT, Necrosis joined forces with drummer LRH and former DEATHCHAIN guitarist Leper during the era of the band’s debut album, “Realm of the Night”, reshaping the legacy of classic Finnish black metal through a modern approach.

“Avernus” marks the band’s first release created with its expanded lineup. Following the formation of their live lineup, CHAMBER OF UNLIGHT has grown into a six-member force with VnoM on bass, Infection on guitar, and Spellgoth on keyboards, taking the band’s atmospheric depth even further on the new album.

While preserving the group’s core identity, the new release highlights a more majestic and layered approach to its sonic landscape. Spellgoth’s mesmerizing keyboard touches expand the album’s cold and dark black metal foundation, while sharp guitar melodies, esoteric atmospheres, and grand arrangements stand as the defining elements of “Avernus”.

With “Avernus”, CHAMBER OF UNLIGHT aims to merge the spirit of 1990s Finnish black metal with a contemporary production approach, creating an experience that feels both nostalgic and alive. Rising riff structures, melodies that evoke a cosmic sense of atmosphere, and an organic yet powerful production style further enhance the band’s dark universe throughout the album.
