CIRITH UNGOL Returns With New Album Following Farewell Decision
Back From Farewell
CIRITH UNGOL, who announced in 2024 that they would play their final shows, are returning with a new album two years later. The California-based Heavy Metal band’s seventh studio album, "All The Shadows", will be released on October 30, 2026, via No Remorse Records.
The first sign of their return comes in the form of the album’s title track, 'All The Shadows'. A lyric video for the song has now been released, with drummer Robert Garven describing it as the album’s opening statement and noting that the track was shaped by the “Masters of the Pit.”
"All The Shadows" continues the dark and apocalyptic narrative that has defined CIRITH UNGOL throughout their long career. Vocalist Tim Baker says the album explores mankind’s descent into darkness and despair through a story that moves from blackened hearts and broken dreams to madness, corruption, sin, and unspeakable horror. According to Baker, the record represents another stage in the band’s long-running journey into darkness.
That approach is directly connected to the band’s musical history, which began in Ventura, California, in the early 1970s. CIRITH UNGOL established a distinctive and mysterious Heavy Metal identity with "Frost And Fire", before moving toward a heavier and darker sound on "King Of The Dead" and "One Foot In Hell". Following the release of "Paradise Lost" in 1991, the band ended their activities in 1992.
After reuniting in 2015, CIRITH UNGOL continued their work with "Forever Black" and the 2023 album "Dark Parade". When the band announced their final shows in 2024, it appeared that their story was finally coming to an end. "All The Shadows", however, shows that CIRITH UNGOL still have another chapter to write.
The album was recorded at The Captains Quarters in the band’s hometown of Ventura. Armand John Anthony engineered, mixed, and mastered the record, while production was handled jointly by CIRITH UNGOL and Anthony. Jarvis Leatherby served as executive producer.
The cover artwork was created by acclaimed fantasy artist Michael Whelan. "All The Shadows" will feature eight tracks:
'All The Shadows'
'This Mortal Stain'
'Turning Blind'
'Shallow Reflection'
'Empty Tomb'
'On Broken Wings'
'Hollow Nimbus'
'Venus In Thirds'
"All The Shadows" will be released on October 30 via No Remorse Records in CD and various special and limited vinyl editions. Pre-orders are already underway.
CIRITH UNGOL’s current lineup features Tim Baker (vocals, backing vocals), Armand John Anthony (guitars, backing vocals), Jarvis Leatherby (bass, backing vocals), and Robert Garven (drums, percussion, backing vocals).
