Citrinitas Unveil New Demo: “Telestic Ekstasis” Deepens the Darkness
New Demo
The mysterious Finnish project Citrinitas returns with their second demo, Telestic Ekstasis, following the striking release of Unending Descent earlier this year. Issued via Caligari Records, the tape will see an international release on June 26, while the full demo is already being streamed via the No Gleaming Light YouTube channel ahead of its official drop.
On their debut demo, Citrinitas constructed a dense and unsettling atmosphere that blurred the boundaries between death metal, doom, and expressive black metal. With Telestic Ekstasis, the band pushes this trajectory even further, carving out a sound world that feels both more accessible and significantly more alien. Dominated by reverb-soaked, ghostly production, the tracks unfold with a near-collapsing cyclical structure; each riff lands with such force and hypnotic weight that it feels capable of echoing into infinity.
The three-track recording stands out particularly with its closing piece. The nearly seven-minute title track, “Telestic Ekstasis,” delivers a sonic narrative that oscillates between the death of stars and the emergence of new cosmic formations born from their ashes. Citrinitas’ vocal and instrumental approach positions itself as a form of consciousness resisting this cosmic decay, further intensifying the unsettling impact of the release.
Alongside its cassette edition, Telestic Ekstasis is available for pre-order via Caligari Records’ Bandcamp page. The demo once again underscores Citrinitas’ movement toward an increasingly amorphous and experimental form of darkness.
