COMPLEXANT: A New Era Arrives with Apex
The Australian blackened death metal outfit COMPLEXANT are preparing to make a forceful entrance with their long-awaited debut full-length album, Apex. The band aims to cement their position within the global extreme metal scene with the record, set for release on July 31 via Bleeding Art Collective in partnership with Blood Blast Distribution.
The first signal from the upcoming album arrived in the form of the single “No Angels Weep.” Alongside the track, a music video has also been released, offering an initial glimpse that clearly lays bare the band’s aggressive and dark musical direction.
The album is said to consist of 10 tracks and to carry a sound built on dense riff structures, high-speed drumming work, and layered extreme vocal delivery. Having already drawn attention with their 2023 A Rite of Passage EP and earlier single releases, the band now aims to reach a wider audience with Apex.
Speaking about the single “No Angels Weep,” vocalist Dan Greigsy describes the track as a dark narrative shaped around themes of betrayal, paranoia, and revenge. The lyrics foreground a psychological collapse that begins with the breakdown of trust and escalates into its violent consequences.
In the production process of Apex, vocals were recorded by Joey Marsh at Beyond the Marsh Studios, while guitars and bass were handled by Shannon Zivkovic. The album’s mixing and mastering were completed by Christian Donaldson, a name associated with numerous key productions in the extreme metal scene. The cover artwork was created by Matt Priso.
The Australian act merges death metal and black metal elements within a harsh, dense, and dark framework, continuously expanding their live presence as well. Active on the touring circuit since 2022, the band has shared stages with international heavyweights such as Cryptopsy, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Signs of the Swarm, and Within Destruction, further solidifying their reputation.
When Apex is released on July 31, 2026, it will stand as COMPLEXANT’s most ambitious and destructive work to date within the extreme metal landscape.
