CUTTERRED FLESH Reconstruct Horror Stories Through Brutal Death Metal
Horror becomes sound.
Czech brutal death metal band CUTTERRED FLESH continue the evolution of their 25-year career with their new album "The Shapes of Hidden Malice", where they bring their musical development together with horror literature. Due for release on November 13, 2026, the album combines a ten-track narrative inspired by the stories of classic horror writers with the band's increasingly fluid and cohesive musical approach.
At the heart of the album is the idea that each song explores a different horror story. The track titles, evoking works associated with classic horror literature by figures such as H. P. Lovecraft, Robert W. Chambers, Algernon Blackwood, and Edgar Allan Poe, make it clear that "The Shapes of Hidden Malice" is more than simply a collection of brutal death metal songs. The band describes its approach as “dissecting the mechanisms of fear and translating them into sound.”
One of the musical manifestations of this narrative world emerges on 'The Feather Pillow'. Featuring guest vocals from SILENT STREAM OF GODLESS ELEGY vocalist Hana Hajdová, the track stands out as one of the album's notable examples of its varied musical layers.
On their previous two albums, CUTTERRED FLESH incorporated progressive elements and unexpected diversity into their brutal death metal foundation. With the new record, however, the band aims to bring this approach into a tighter framework. While the transitions between songs are described as more fluid and the overall sound more cohesive, the band's brutal side has not been toned down; instead, it is used in a more controlled manner within the music.
All lyrics on "The Shapes of Hidden Malice" were written by vocalist Jiří Krš, while the album artwork was created by Eliran Kantor. Krš is joined in the lineup by guitarists Vitalij Novak and Martin Meyer, bassist Ondřej Klaban, and drummer Jakub Bayer.
"The Shapes of Hidden Malice" will be released on November 13, 2026. The tracklist features 'The Mad Farmstead', 'Le Horla', 'The King in Yellow', 'The Willows', 'Mimi-Nashi-Hōichi', 'The Feather Pillow', 'The Letter U', 'The Painted Skin', 'The Colour Out of Space', and 'Berenice'.
