DEFILED Release New Live Video From Osaka Stage
Osaka Death Assault
Japanese death metal veterans DEFILED have released a new live performance video titled "Live in Osaka 2026." With this special recording, the Tokyo-based band once again showcases the intense energy and technically aggressive character of their live presence.
Recorded during the band’s 2026 spring performance in Osaka, where they shared the stage with Mayhem, the video focuses on the raw power of DEFILED’s live show. Through complex rhythms, razor-sharp guitar passages, and high-speed death metal assaults, the band invites listeners into their distinctive sonic world.
Founding guitarist Yusuke Sumita stated that the performance was recorded shortly before the release of the band’s new album "Altered State," adding that the video captures the true energy of DEFILED’s stage presence. Sumita also expressed his hope that fans would enjoy the live performance.
Formed in 1992, DEFILED have remained a major force in the extreme metal scene for more than three decades, standing as one of Japan’s longest-running death metal acts. Throughout their career, the band has avoided simply recreating traditional death metal formulas, instead forging their own path through technical intensity, progressive elements, and a unique songwriting approach.
The band’s ninth studio album, "Altered State," was released via Season of Mist and has drawn attention for its dense riff structures, unpredictable rhythms, and aggressive atmosphere. The album’s 14 tracks reflect DEFILED’s current musical vision, blending their old-school death metal roots with technical thrash influences and progressive approaches.
DEFILED’s current lineup features Shinichiro Hamada on vocals and guitar, founding member Yusuke Sumita on guitar, Takachika Nakajima on bass, and Keisuke Hamada on drums. With "Live in Osaka 2026," the band continues to support the new album era while once again proving the devastating power of their live performances.
