Polish stoner doom band DOPELORD are preparing to reissue their 2012 debut album “Magick Rites” through their new label home, Season of Mist. The reissue is set for December 11, 2026.

As the first studio recording the band made after their formation, “Magick Rites” captures an early incarnation of the riff-driven approach DOPELORD are known for today. The album was recorded under very different circumstances from the band's current position. According to bassist and vocalist Piotr Zin, the band had no commercial expectations when they entered Studnia Studio in Bialystok for their first professional studio session in November 2011.

Zin explains that the recordings were initially made primarily for the band's own use, and that they had no idea what kind of reception the album would eventually receive. At the time, he says, their only real expectation was that having the material available on CD might make it easier to land gigs.

Michael Anuszewski handled the mixing of “Magick Rites”, while the cover artwork was created by Paweł Mioduchowski. The band's photo was taken by Michał Sobociński.

The reissue announcement comes as DOPELORD prepare to hit the road across Europe with Monolord. The two bands will perform in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Switzerland on a tour that began in Hamburg on October 6 and concludes at Desertfest in Liège on October 18.
