Italian atmospheric folk/black metal outfit Duir has made their highly anticipated second studio album Catarsi available ahead of its official release. Set to drop on June 26 via AOP Records, the album is already accessible in full via digital platforms.

Formed in 2013 by MK, Duir has drawn attention for its approach of fusing folk textures with the dark, atmospheric essence of black metal. Taking its name from a Celtic word meaning “oak tree,” the band has, following a series of demos and an EP, gradually evolved toward a more melodic and introspective direction with its 2022 debut album.

Catarsi stands out as the most expansive and conceptually dense work in the band’s career to date. Set in the shadow of World War I, its narrative revolves around the psychological collapse of a young soldier caught between pride, despair, and oblivion. The album distinguishes itself through a structure that seeks to transform historical narrative into an emotional experience.

On the production side, the record features notable collaborations. L.G. from Ellende contributes guest vocals, while the album was mixed and mastered by P.G. of Groza, pushing both its atmospheric depth and its sonic intensity to a sharper, more defined edge.

With an extensive touring history across the European scene in recent years alongside acts ranging from Gaerea to Ellende, Duir appears to be entering the most ambitious phase of its career with Catarsi. The album has now been made available in its entirety, just days ahead of its official release.
