Duir Release New Single “Del giorno”
Italian atmospheric folk/black metal outfit Duir has unveiled their new single “Del giorno” ahead of their upcoming second album Catarsi. The track stands as the third preview from the highly anticipated record, offering further insight into the album’s overarching atmosphere.
Formed in 2013 by MK, Duir are known for crafting a dark yet layered sonic architecture that fuses the aesthetics of folk and black metal. Taking their name from the Celtic word for “oak,” a symbol of endurance and resilience, the band has reinforced its artistic foundation through extensive touring since its early years. Following the demo Tribe (2014) and the EP Obsidio (2018), the group shared stages with some of Italy’s leading extreme metal acts, steadily expanding their visibility across the European circuit alongside names such as Skyforger, Elvenking, and Furor Gallico.
Their 2022 debut full-length, T. S. N. R. I. – Impermanenza, is widely regarded as a turning point in Duir’s evolution toward a more melodic and atmospheric direction. During this period, the band broadened its live experience alongside acts such as Grima, Ultar, and Bloody Tyrant, while also strengthening its touring network through a partnership with Mostro Production.

Throughout 2023 and 2024, Duir continued to perform across various parts of Europe, sharing stages with bands including Ellende, Groza, Gaerea, and Happy Days, while also supporting Darkend during their German shows. In 2025, they appeared at Sweden’s Summoning of Darkness festival alongside Tsjuder and Seth.
The upcoming Catarsi album is described as the band’s most ambitious conceptual work to date. Centered on the First World War era, its narrative follows a young soldier trapped between pride, despair, and oblivion. By merging atmospheric black metal textures with folk elements, the album aims to transform a historical narrative into an emotional experience. On the production side, mixing and mastering were handled by P.G. of Groza, while guest vocals are contributed by L.G. of Ellende.
Meanwhile, previous singles “Di nessuno” and “Impeto,” featuring L.G., also stand as key pieces shaping the album’s atmosphere. The newly released “Del giorno” emerges as the latest stop on the dark journey leading up to Catarsi, drawing the listener further into its world.
The album will be released internationally on June 26 via AOP Records.
