DYING HYDRA Signs with Argonauta Records
One of Denmark’s rising sludge/doom acts, DYING HYDRA has taken a major step into its next chapter by signing with Argonauta Records. The Copenhagen-based trio is now preparing to release new material through the Italian label.
Formed in 2018, the band quickly established itself as one of the standout names within the Scandinavian heavy music scene.

Operating along the sludge and doom metal axis, DYING HYDRA stands out through its fusion of crushing riff structures, bleak atmospheres, and an intense psychedelic approach. Stoner and heavy psych influences are also deeply embedded within the band’s sound.
Featuring Lars Pontoppidan, Patrick Fragtrup, and Tejs Kyhl in its ranks, the trio has carved out a strong position within the European underground circuit, particularly through its live performances. Having appeared at events such as Copenhagen Metal Fest, Colossal Weekend, and Sonic Ritual, the band has also shared stages with heavyweight acts including Bongripper, Primitive Man, and Konvent.
In a statement regarding the signing, DYING HYDRA emphasized that working with Argonauta Records represents an important opportunity for the band’s artistic growth, while also expressing excitement for the new era ahead. The group stated that it aims to push its musical identity even further and has high expectations for the road ahead.
Having already received positive acclaim for the albums “Of Lowly Origin” and “Strange and Beautiful Things,” the band is regarded as one of the noteworthy new-generation representatives of the modern sludge/doom scene, thanks to its destructive tones and layered atmospheres.
More details regarding the upcoming album and the collaboration are expected to be revealed in the near future.
