Dark Union from EpicDown and Bell Of Mimir: New Split Released
Argonauta Records has announced the second chapter of its digital split series. Bringing together EpicDown from Germany and Bell Of Mimir from Finland, this special release meets listeners on digital platforms and presents a new slice of the contemporary doom scene. The record unites the dark visions of two bands from different geographies within a shared atmosphere.
The Digital Split Collaborations series, initiated by Argonauta Records, stands out as a project aimed at bringing bands from different countries under the same creative roof. The core objective of the series is to increase interaction between artists operating in the underground scene and to open space for original collaborations released exclusively in digital format.
Featured in this second installment, EpicDown emerges from Leipzig, Germany, with a sound shaped by the isolation, collapse, and inner tension of the post-pandemic era. The band builds one of the modern interpretations of doom metal through slow-burning heavy riffs, dense walls of guitars, and dark vocal textures. Drawing inspiration from names such as Sleep, Earth, and Melvins, their approach has positioned them as one of the notable acts of recent years.
On the Finnish side, Bell Of Mimir joins the project with a more melodic and atmospheric take on doom. Fusing the classical doom tradition with broader harmonic structures and emotional depth, the band stands out through a composition-driven approach. Founded in 2021, the project gradually evolved into a full lineup and previously received positive reactions with its debut album.
The split release brings together the distinct aesthetics of both bands on the same line, placing the harsher and more atmospheric sides of doom metal side by side. The release features Bell Of Mimir’s “Black Curtains” and “Epitaph,” alongside EpicDown’s “Vicious Possess,” “Gauntlet Run,” and “Twist Of Fate.” In line with the spirit of the series, this union establishes both an experimental and authentic underground dialogue.
