German extreme metal band FIRTAN have shared the third track from their fifth studio album, “Helios”, due out on October 2 via AOP Records. The new music video for ‘Kalika’s Tongue’ adds to the material unveiled from the album so far.

Named after the sun, “Helios” explores the struggle to become a stronger, clearer version of oneself in a world built around distraction and decay. Rather than presenting this process as an escape, the album approaches it as a transformation achieved through struggle.

Musically, FIRTAN bring together the atmospheric ferocity of black metal and the weight of death metal. The band’s compositions also feature acoustic and electric violin used in melancholic and experimental ways, while intricate riffing and unexpected shifts form an important part of the album’s musical framework. Acoustic instruments, ritualistic chants, and analogue synthesizers further expand its atmosphere.

‘Kalika’s Tongue’ marks the third piece of music released from “Helios”. It follows the previously released ‘Ascension’, while ‘The Hierophant Way’ features guest vocals from NE OBLIVISCARIS vocalist James Dorton.

After more than a decade in the German extreme metal scene, FIRTAN are preparing to bring their new album to the stage on their “Helios” tour in fall 2026. “Helios” will be released internationally on October 2 via AOP Records.
