Washington, D.C. death metal outfit GOETIA is preparing to confront listeners with its highly anticipated debut full-length, Mortuary Cult. Set for release via Carbonized Records, the album marks a new chapter in the band's dark and occult-themed musical journey.

Formed in 2022 by bassist/vocalist Matt Scott, guitarist Demir Soyer, and drummer Nadia Tydings-Lynch, GOETIA quickly established itself as a notable presence within the American underground death metal scene. Having built its reputation through a string of EP releases and an intensive live schedule, the band now reaches a significant milestone in its career with its first full-length record.

Comprised of ten tracks, Mortuary Cult presents a more cohesive conceptual framework than the band's previous recordings. Drawing inspiration from experiences in old cemeteries around the Washington, D.C. area, the album places fast-paced riffs, extensive solo work, and aggressive blast beats at the forefront of its musical identity. While remaining firmly rooted in the tradition of classic American death metal, the band also successfully incorporates thrash influences into its sound.

The recording process was handled by the same team that worked on GOETIA’s earlier releases. Production duties were overseen by Matt Michel and Will Killingsworth, while the album artwork was created by Chris Taylor. Mortuary Cult will be made available on vinyl, CD, cassette, and digital platforms.

To celebrate the album’s release, GOETIA is also preparing for an extensive North American tour set to begin in the second half of June. The run will kick off in Pittsburgh and continue through numerous cities until early July. The band will additionally host a special album release show in Washington, D.C. in July, bringing its new material to hometown fans.

Having steadily built a strong reputation within underground death metal circles through its EP releases in recent years, GOETIA aims to elevate that momentum even further with Mortuary Cult. The album is shaping up to be one of the year’s standout debuts, particularly for listeners seeking uncompromising and aggressive death metal.
