Swedish progressive doom/death metal band GOLD SPIRE have revealed details of their upcoming second full-length album Steps into Shadow, set for release on June 19, 2026 through Awakening Records. The album will be available on CD and digital formats.

Formed in Uppsala, Sweden in 2019, GOLD SPIRE was founded by brothers Erik Sundström and Påhl Sundström following the end of Usurpress. Since then, the band has developed a sound combining elements of progressive death metal, doom metal, and progressive rock.

Steps into Shadow marks the band’s second studio album. Alongside Erik Sundström and Påhl Sundström, the record also features Magnus Kjellstrand on saxophone and flute, as well as Petter Broman on bass.

The album additionally serves as the band’s first release with vocalist Arvid Sjödin, who joined GOLD SPIRE following the departure of former vocalist Heval Bozarslan. Sjödin is also known for his work with FLOATING.

Recording sessions for the album took place between 2023 and 2026 at Studio Siborator, with Erik Sundström handling the recordings. Mixing and mastering duties were completed by Lawrence Mackrory, while the artwork was created by Påhl Sundström.
