Danish modern metal outfit GRADIENCE has begun the countdown to the release of its debut full-length album, Anomaly. Set for release on September 4, the record has now been previewed with a new track, “White Noise,” accompanied by an official music video.

Due out via Metal Blade Records, Anomaly embraces an unconventional approach that merges the harsher edge of extreme metal with hip-hop and trap influences. Blending blackened death metal and sludge elements with electronic textures, the band aims to create a sonic landscape that pushes beyond traditional genre boundaries.

The foundations of GRADIENCE were laid when guitarist Jakob Lærke Harris and vocalist Gavin Mistry met at a concert in Copenhagen in 2022. Coming from distinctly different musical backgrounds, the two musicians united around a shared creative vision and developed a project that breaks away from established conventions. With drummer Frederik Kjelstrup Hansen and bassist Patrick Petersen joining the songwriting process, the band gradually evolved into its current form.

On the lyrical side, Gavin Mistry’s personal experiences occupy a central role throughout the album. Themes such as loneliness, alienation, inner conflict, and the search for identity emerge prominently in the lyrics, with the vocalist noting that this approach is rooted in a personal writing practice he has maintained for years. The emotional connections forged between past and present stand among the key elements shaping the album’s dark atmosphere.

The band’s latest single, “White Noise,” stands out as one of the album’s most experimental compositions. Combining unexpected transitions and diverse vocal approaches, the track explores the tension between an outgoing personality and the need for solitude. The spoken-word section that closes the song further underscores this sense of internal conflict.
