The First Album from Beyond the Mists: Grimveil’s Dark Forest Journey
The Swedish/German-based black metal project Grimveil has made its long-awaited debut album, Beneath the Veil of Silent Woods, available ahead of its official release. The record is being streamed in full via the Black Metal Promotion YouTube channel, with its international release date set for June 5.

The new formation takes shape through the collaboration of two key figures operating under the Purity Through Fire banner. Formed by the coming together of Revenant and Simon Lindgren from Tårfödd, Grimveil aims to further deepen a nature-themed, atmospheric strain of black metal. It is stated that the project’s initial concept draws inspiration particularly from forest walks and the mental states born out of direct contact with nature.
The album consists of eight tracks and runs for approximately one hour in total. Beneath the Veil of Silent Woods is shaped around dense melancholy, a fog-laden atmosphere, and a sense of nostalgia for a pre-human, primordial vision of nature. The riff structures largely lean toward mid-to-slow tempos, while intermittent bursts of aggressive speed stand out as jarring, impactful transitions.
On the vocal side, Revenant’s raw and fragmented delivery comes to the fore, while Lindgren’s compositional approach lends the album a broad, cinematic depth. Acoustic passages and subtle synthetic textures create an atmosphere that intensifies the feeling of being alone within a forested expanse. The album is not merely a musical work, but also evokes the sense of an inner journey through the silence of nature.
Ahead of its official release, the full album is currently available to stream via Black Metal Promotion. With this debut full-length, Grimveil positions itself as a strong contender for one of the most atmospherically compelling black metal releases of the year.
