HARRIDAN Release “HUL”, an Album Dedicated to the Evil Spirits of Mesopotamia
Mesopotamia’s Evil Spirits Emerge Through Ritual
Polish black metal project HARRIDAN released “HUL” digitally on September 29, 2026. Dedicated to the Utukku Limnu, the evil spirits of ancient Mesopotamia, the album draws on Akkadian incantations and ritual practices, approaching evil not as a moral concept but as a primordial force that exists beyond human perception.
Recorded, mixed and mastered by project founder Shamad at Silence Grave Studio, “HUL” was created during periods of the new moon. Its conceptual framework revolves around destructive forces believed to exist independently of gods, hierarchies and Western occult traditions. In HARRIDAN’s view, these forces are neither entities to be worshipped nor powers that can be brought under control.
The album’s lyrics are built around a ritual inversion of the 28 celestial degrees of Aries. Images of the destruction of the lamb, the rejection of light and the collapse of the solar order shape its narrative. HARRIDAN describes the album not as an interpretation of these forces, but as the direct result of ritual practice.
Formed in Poland on the night of October 31, 1997, HARRIDAN emerged as an expression of Shamad’s lifelong interest in death, chaos and forces beyond human perception. Never intended to function as a conventional band, the project came to an abrupt halt in 2010 following personal turmoil, withdrawal and imprisonment. HARRIDAN eventually resurfaced, continuing its decades-long spiritual and musical exploration through releases including “Magus Mortis”, “HUL” and “Nekroticizm”.
“HUL” is available to stream in full via HARRIDAN’s YouTube release. The album comprises eight tracks.
