HKSPK Returns with New Album "Heimkehr"

Brandenburg-based black/death metal band HKSPK are preparing to release their second studio album, "Heimkehr", on September 11, 2026. Comprising eight tracks and running for 25 minutes and 21 seconds, the album combines the cold atmosphere of black metal with the force of death metal, while also incorporating melodic passages, doom-laden heaviness, and a direct approach occasionally shaped by punk influences.
Although the title "Heimkehr" initially evokes the idea of returning home and finding safety, the album turns that expectation on its head. HKSPK focus on stories of people who return but do not emerge from what they have experienced unscathed. War, loss of control, mental exhaustion, revenge, dark humor, and failed live performances all draw from the band's own experiences, stories from their immediate surroundings, and freely interpreted historical motifs.
The album opens with the brief 'Prelude' before launching into 'Torture'. Moving between melodic black metal and aggressive black/death metal, the track establishes the album's overall character, while 'Sonnenjäger' takes a more pronounced death metal approach. 'Rot In Despair' derives its weight from a more stripped-down structure and dense atmosphere, while 'Rain In The Face' combines cold black metal textures with a narrative perspective. The title track 'Heimkehr', which runs for more than six minutes, closes the album with an extended finale.
'Torture' and 'Rot In Despair' have already been released as singles. The other tracks HKSPK are highlighting during the album campaign are 'Heimkehr', 'Sonnenjäger', and 'Rain In The Face'.
Formed in 2023, HKSPK previously released their debut album "Holy Scum" in 2024 and the "The Human Butcher" EP in 2025. According to the band, "Heimkehr" presents a clearer production, more mature arrangements, and a more serious thematic approach. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Room13, with the band handling the entire songwriting and production process themselves. The cover artwork was created by Steffen Schmolke.
HKSPK have previously performed as support for Asagraum, Enisum, and Waldgeflüster. The band have also appeared at events including M.U.R. Open Air, Godless Mountain Open Air, and Summer Ends, as well as playing a headline show in Brno. For 2027, the band are preparing to perform at selected festivals, club shows, and support slots across Europe.
"Heimkehr" will be released independently across all major streaming platforms on September 11, 2026. A limited CD edition of 50 copies will also be available through Bandcamp.
