The Linz-based dungeon metal band LUDGAR has released its third track ahead of its debut studio album, “Violent Visions.” ‘Serpents Poison’ is out today via InvisibleOranges.com, while the album has been announced for release on September 25 through Dying Victims Productions.

Formed in Linz, Austria, in 2024, LUDGAR features DEATH RACER guitarist S. Bruckner on bass, VENATOR drummer J. Steidl behind the kit, L. Höller on vocals, and ZEPTER member S. Bolda on guitar. With their debut demo, “Molochian Rites,” released the same year, the band established a raw and hard-hitting approach that they now carry into their first full-length.

‘Serpents Poison’ is the third track unveiled from “Violent Visions.” The previously released ‘Violent Visions (In the Claws of Ergot)’ and ‘Skull Splitting Sodomy’ were premiered via Metal.de and Deaf Forever, respectively.

LUDGAR’s musical foundation lies firmly in the heavy metal and underground extreme metal of the 1980s. Rather than confining themselves to the “blackthrash” label, the band embraces a raw, aggressive, and dark sound built around a dungeon-like atmosphere. In this respect, “Violent Visions” takes the approach established on the band’s debut demo and pushes it into a harsher and more expansive form.

The album’s title also echoes the historical reference behind the band’s name. “Ludgar” is derived from the abbreviated form of “Loup de guerre,” meaning “war wolf,” a term used in the Middle Ages for one of the largest siege trebuchets. The expression referred to a massive siege weapon used to crush opponents and villages alike.
