Austrian extreme metal outfit Ludgar has unveiled its new track, “Skull Splitting Sodomy,” ahead of the release of its debut full-length, Violent Visions. Blending a dark atmosphere, savage intensity, and the spirit of the '80s underground metal scene, the band continues to build anticipation as the release date for the album's physical editions has also been confirmed.

Based in Linz, Ludgar was formed in 2024 by musicians already familiar to the Austrian metal scene. The lineup features Death Racer guitarist S. Bruckner on bass, Venator drummer J. Steidl, vocalist L. Höller, and guitarist S. Bolda of Zepter. The band quickly established its own dark musical identity, offering the first glimpse of its raw and aggressive sound with the Molochian Rites demo, released later that same year.

Taking its name from the massive siege engines used in medieval warfare, Ludgar aims to channel a similar sense of destruction through its music. While rooted in classic metal traditions, the band refuses to confine itself to a single genre label, instead forging its own dark world through punishing riffs, menacing atmospheres, and an untamed sense of aggression.

Violent Visions stands as a debut that fully embodies this approach. With its dungeon-like atmosphere, abrasive guitar work, and ever-present tension, the album pulls listeners away from the polished sterility of modern metal and into a far more savage and dangerous realm.

Violent Visions is scheduled for release on September 25 via Dying Victims Productions on vinyl and CD. Meanwhile, the new single “Skull Splitting Sodomy” offers a compelling preview of the brutality and darkness that define the band's first full-length.
