LUGUBRIOUS GARMENT to Release Debut Album in October

LUGUBRIOUS GARMENT, the project of Gabriele Gramaglia, a musician active on the more experimental fringes of Italy’s extreme metal scene, is set to return with its debut full-length, "In The Wide Vale Of Uncreated Night". Due out October 16, 2026 via 20 Buck Spin, the album has also yielded its first preview in the form of 'Profaned Fountain Of Leaden Waters'.
LUGUBRIOUS GARMENT expands upon the Death Metal approach Gramaglia established on the 2025 "Demo MMXXV", developing it into a more substantial form on the debut album. Known for his work with projects such as COSMIC PUTREFACTION and VERTEBRA ATLANTIS, the musician places a more instinctive, aggressive, and raw musical direction at the center of this effort.
"In The Wide Vale Of Uncreated Night" is built around a strain of Death Metal in which high-speed, razor-sharp riffs intertwine with complex rhythmic structures. Dense layers of guitars, punishing drums, guttural vocals, and high-pitched lead guitars cutting through the tracks' chaotic atmosphere define the sound, while flashes of Heavy Metal and Speed Metal emerge from the surrounding intensity.
One of the album's more striking aspects is the technical precision behind this seemingly uncontrolled aggression. The way riffs lock together at breakneck speed and tempos shift without warning demonstrates how LUGUBRIOUS GARMENT uses complexity as a direct component of its destructive force.
This approach does not completely abandon the multilayered songwriting found throughout Gramaglia's other work; rather, LUGUBRIOUS GARMENT pushes that method toward a more feral and confrontational place. On the album, Gramaglia handles guitars, vocals, bass, synths, and sound design, in addition to overseeing the recording, mixing, and mastering.
"In The Wide Vale Of Uncreated Night" was recorded at Crepuscular Sound Studio between fall 2025 and spring 2026. The album's artwork was created by Mariya Popyk.
Gramaglia is joined on the album by Yr-nhhngr on additional vocals, Giorgio Trombino on an additional solo in the final section of 'Transient Wounds, Spiritual Wilt', Andrea Morgan on violin and viola contributions to two tracks, and session drummer Claudio Invidia.
The first released track, 'Profaned Fountain Of Leaden Waters', offers an early indication of LUGUBRIOUS GARMENT's more aggressive side ahead of the project's debut full-length. "In The Wide Vale Of Uncreated Night" will be released on October 16.
