MAN LOOKING MAN Make Their Debut Album Move
MAN LOOKING MAN have unveiled their new single “Zegepraal” while also revealing details surrounding their upcoming debut album. The Berlin-based outfit has additionally released the official video clip for the track.
The band’s self-titled first full-length is set for release on June 12 in both CD and digital formats. The record will arrive via Octopus Rising, the imprint operating under Argonauta Records.
“Zegepraal” stands out as a piece that sharply exposes the band’s harsh and intense character. Chaotic arrangements, emotional tension, and a high-pressure structure form the backbone of the track, while the band merges a modern post-hardcore framework with a dark and oppressive atmosphere. At the same time, the song offers significant clues regarding the overall spirit of an album forged through a long and painful creative process.
Reportedly completed over the course of nearly five years, the album pushed the band to several breaking points throughout its existence. Despite the possibility of the project collapsing entirely, the group continued to push forward, ultimately transforming every uncertainty they encountered into part of the creative process itself. The resulting record is now being viewed as the clearest and most powerful statement the band has delivered to date.
On the lyrical front, vocalist Carlo Poy’s background in language studies and his interest in political narratives immediately stand out. Throughout the album, themes such as the collapse of modern society, the individual’s position within the system, and the struggle to preserve hope during dark times are brought into focus. Rather than centering solely on individual alienation, the band also aims to emphasize ideas of collective consciousness and communal solidarity.
The production process was carried out entirely independently. Recording, mixing, and sound design duties took place at Maurizio Bergmann’s Rooftop Studios. In order to fully shape their own sonic identity without outside interference, the band approached the entire process through a strict DIY philosophy.
The album’s tracklist is as follows:
Symbols of Loss
Zegepraal
369
Samsara
Glide and Turn
Poslushayte!
With the release of the new single and the announcement of the album, MAN LOOKING MAN appear to be further solidifying their position as one of the most compelling emerging names within today’s post-hardcore scene.
