Italian technical death metal outfit Miscreance have unveiled their new single “Oracle’s Rift” ahead of the release of their second studio album, “Reminiscence”, due out on August 28 via Season of Mist. With their latest track, the band creates a dark and immersive musical realm by combining the intricate structures of old-school technical death metal with progressive touches and the raw energy of thrash.

Emerging from Italy’s underground scene in 2018, Miscreance were quickly compared to genre pioneers such as Death, Sadus and Voivod. However, rather than simply reviving the technical death metal legacy of the past, the band aims to expand that foundation through their own experimental approach.

“Oracle’s Rift” stands out as one of Miscreance’s most intense showcases of technical ability. Throughout the track, sudden tempo shifts, razor-sharp guitar transitions and complex rhythmic patterns pull the listener into a dark narrative beyond the boundaries of time, one that carries traces of an unknown civilization.

The new album “Reminiscence” is built around a larger concept following the band’s debut release “Convergence”. Miscreance describe the record as a mysterious artifact left behind by a lost civilization. Bringing together futuristic technology and the brutality of a primitive world, the album’s narrative revolves around themes such as consciousness, evolution and post-human existence.

Guitarist Tommaso Cappelletti explains that the band wanted to explore a broader musical landscape on their new album, while bassist Jean-Claude Rossignol describes the record as being built around the idea of a “lost artifact” originating from an unknown civilization. This approach allows Miscreance to preserve the foundations of classic technical death metal while simultaneously developing a more experimental and atmospheric side.

Across the nine tracks featured on “Reminiscence”, the band combines aggressive riffing with the use of diverse instrumentation. The inclusion of elements such as percussion, didgeridoo, flute and berimbau enhances the atmosphere of the album and further strengthens Miscreance’s storytelling.

With “Oracle’s Rift”, Miscreance continue to merge the spirit of late ’80s and early ’90s technical thrash/death metal with a more open-ended and experimental modern approach. Through “Reminiscence”, the band aims to offer more than a tribute to the past, presenting an ambitious vision of how the old-school extreme metal mentality can evolve and move forward.
