Italian Technical Death Metal and Thrash Metal band MISCREANCE tell the story of a fictional civilization reaching from the distant past into the present on their second studio album, "Reminiscence". The nine-track album will be released through Season of Mist on August 28, while the full record is available to stream today via Decibel Magazine.

"Reminiscence" cannot simply be regarded as a straightforward continuation of the band's previous work. This time, MISCREANCE take their old-school Technical Death Metal and Thrash Metal foundation and incorporate didgeridoo, berimbau, flute and various percussion instruments, along with ritualistic vocals and unconventional time signatures, bringing the atmosphere of the lost civilization at the heart of the album into the music itself.

A significant part of this approach comes from percussionist Leo Di Angilla's contributions. Performing percussion, didgeridoo, flute and berimbau throughout the album, Di Angilla strengthens the connection between the music and the story being told through these tribal instruments, according to guitarist Tommaso Cappelletti.

The album's story revolves around a civilization lost to time, one that is both extremely primitive and highly advanced. In MISCREANCE's narrative, this civilization once lived in harmony with nature, but its members, gifted with psychic powers, gradually fell under the influence of their primal instincts and their desire to hunt. For this reason, bassist Jean-Claude Rossignol describes "Reminiscence" as a “lost album” that has survived from an unknown civilization.

The concept's musical counterpart is evident from the very beginning of the album. Rather than opening with blast beats, 'Trait d'Union' kicks off with funky, bouncing tribal percussion, while 'Scalp Ceremony' builds an unconventional structure around high-speed guitars followed by the arrival of bongos. Further into the album, tracks such as 'Synaptic Cortex Dissection', 'Oracle's Rift' and 'Zenith of a Dying Sun' bring the band's technical approach together with the experimental elements of the concept.

MISCREANCE state that they designed the nine tracks on "Reminiscence" not merely as individual songs, but as fragments opening onto different parts of a forgotten past. During the making of the album, the band also sought to bring the idea of “total neural unity” pursued by the civilization at the center of the concept into their own creative process.

As a result, rather than simply reproducing the old-school Technical Death Metal legacy shaped by names such as Death, Atheist, Coroner and Sadus, "Reminiscence" places that foundation within a different narrative through tribal instrumentation and progressive rhythmic shifts.

The album runs for 31 minutes and 49 seconds and features the following nine tracks:
