MISERY INDEX Return with New Single
The Feral Future Begins
Baltimore-based death metal/grindcore heavyweights MISERY INDEX have returned after a four-year silence with their new track “Feral Future.” Released alongside an official lyric video, the song questions the fractured relationship between humanity and the natural world while also serving as the first glimpse into the band’s upcoming eighth studio album.
“Feral Future” is built around the defining intensity of MISERY INDEX’s sound: razor-sharp riffs, crushing drums, and cutting social commentary. The aggressive guitar work of Mark Kloeppel and Darin Morris combines with Adam Jarvis’ relentless drumming, creating a forceful atmosphere that pushes the boundaries between death metal and grindcore.

At the heart of the track lies a reflection on humanity’s dominance over nature. Bassist and vocalist Jason Netherton explains that the song calls for a reevaluation of the way humans interact with their surroundings, emphasizing the idea of restoring damaged spaces to their natural state and reclaiming a more authentic connection with the wild.
“Feral Future” stands out as one of the first songs written for the band’s upcoming album. The track’s untamed and unrestrained energy is said to have played a key role in shaping the overall atmosphere of the record.
On the production side, the track was mixed by Ricardo Borges and mastered by one of metal’s most respected figures, Jens Bogren, at Fascination Street Studios. The artwork was created by Samuele Puligheddu, while the lyric video was produced by Cloud Motion Design.

Formed in 2001, MISERY INDEX continue to stand as one of the prominent forces in the extreme metal scene, combining death metal, grindcore, and sharp political and social themes through their distinctive approach. The band has built a worldwide following with seven studio albums, various special releases, and more than 1,500 live performances.
Following the release of their new single, MISERY INDEX will hit the road this summer for their “An Epitaph for Endtimes” European and UK tour. The run will include appearances at major festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Party.San Open Air, Summer Breeze, and Reload Festival in Germany.
Serving as the opening chapter of MISERY INDEX’s new album cycle, “Feral Future” marks a powerful return that combines the band’s long-standing aggression with today’s environmental and social concerns.
