MØRKGRIM to Release Debut Album in October
MØRKGRIM unveils debut album details.
Norwegian/Swedish black metal project MØRKGRIM will release its debut studio album, "Sǫgur frá Norðfirði", on October 2, 2026, via Soulseller Records. The band has also unveiled 'Garm', the first track from the album.
MØRKGRIM was founded in 1994 by Hrafngrímnir as a one-man black metal project. Although several songs were written during the first half of the ’90s, they were never recorded at the time, and it was only years later that the project was brought back to life.
Hrafngrímnir revived MØRKGRIM in an environment largely isolated from modern life. After moving to a remote farm in the Norwegian countryside, the musician wrote and recorded the album there. "Sǫgur frá Norðfirði" is built around a concept drawing on nature, the Old Norse gods, Norse magick, and traditions of the past.
Musically, the album combines the raw black metal approach of the early ’90s with acoustic folk and Norse influences. In doing so, the band's sound expands the era's raw black metal aesthetic with more atmospheric and folkloric elements.
Drummer Nils “Dominator” Fjellström joined MØRKGRIM in 2023. On the album, Hrafngrímnir handles vocals, guitars, bass, keys, and programming, while Dominator performs the drums. Icelandic singer and artist Saga B provides guest vocals on 'Freyja Kvað'. English guitarist Dev Gohil contributes additional guitar and co-writing to 'Nordljós' and 'Blóðsvǫrr', and also performs on the guitar solo in 'Blóðsvǫrr'.
