Mother Morgana, one of Austria’s rising progressive heavy psych acts, have entered a new chapter in their career. The Graz-based band have announced the signing of a deal with Italian label Argonauta Records while also unveiling the first single from their forthcoming album.

Blending progressive rock, psychedelic textures, and stoner rock heaviness through a distinctive artistic vision, Mother Morgana have emerged as one of the standout names within the European underground scene in recent years. Known for their cinematic compositions, layered atmospheres, and concept-driven output, the band aim to further expand their international reach through this new partnership.

Formed by musicians from diverse musical backgrounds, the group first made its mark with the release of Endonautica in 2018. That science fiction-inspired record was followed by Rise, a release that signaled the band's shift toward heavier riffs and darker sonic territories.

Mother Morgana have now set their sights on their third full-length album, Reflections of a Sunken Mind, scheduled for release in 2026. Described by the band as their most expansive work to date, the album will prominently feature analog synthesizers, retro-inspired soundscapes, and emotionally charged songwriting. Thematically, it explores issues such as misinformation, social polarization, individual freedom, and critical thinking—subjects that continue to shape the modern world.

Serving as the first glimpse into this new era, “Janushead” showcases the band’s current creative direction. Built around martial rhythmic structures, hypnotic repetitions, and deliberately slow-moving arrangements, the track examines the individual’s struggle between apathy and anxiety. The song presents a narrative that questions whether remaining neutral is truly possible in the face of the pressures imposed by the modern world.

The agreement with Argonauta Records is regarded as a significant milestone in Mother Morgana’s career. The band believe that working with a label that respects their creative freedom while allowing them to maintain their independent identity will create major opportunities to bring their new music to a wider audience.

Combining the expansive horizons of progressive rock with psychedelic passages and weighty rock grooves, Mother Morgana appear poised to become one of the bands worth keeping a close eye on throughout 2026.
