Dutch doom/death metal collective OLTAS have unveiled their new single “World Killer,” now available for listeners. The track marks a significant milestone for the band, standing as the first official release following their recently established partnership with Octopus Rising and Argonauta Records.

Throughout their career, OLTAS have drawn attention for their dense atmospheres, crushing riffs, and deep emotional layers, and with “World Killer” they aim to push their sonic identity even further. The new song forms the first link in a series of upcoming releases, while also serving as a harbinger of their debut full-length album, currently scheduled for release in 2027.

Inspired by the shifting natural landscapes of Friesland, the collective continues to maintain the balance they are known for — between darkness and hope, aggression and introspection. Within OLTAS’ lyrical universe, alongside personal experiences, broader themes such as humanity’s future, consciousness, and existence hold a central place.

Featuring guest vocals by Rachel Westerveld, the track addresses the various threats confronting the modern world. However, rather than guiding the listener toward a fixed conclusion, the band opts for an open-ended narrative that invites personal interpretation.

From the band’s perspective, “World Killer” is not merely a new single, but the beginning of a new chapter in their career. Following this release, further singles are planned, ultimately leading up to the band’s first studio album.

The cover artwork was created by artist Arjen Kunnen, known for his work with projects such as Amenra and others. While the band emphasizes their aim of building a strong emotional connection through their music and fostering a shared experience among listeners, they note that “World Killer” stands as the most recent reflection of that artistic vision.
