PANTERA and DOWN to Converge in New Orleans for the Same Weekend
PANTERA and DOWN Converge in New Orleans
New Orleans is gearing up for a special metal weekend centered around PANTERA and DOWN this November. THE GREAT NOLA TRENDKILL will take place at Lakefront Arena on November 20-21, featuring PANTERA’s first concert in the city in 30 years, while also hosting DOWN’s official record release show for their new album "Volume V" as part of the same event.

Organized by Housecore Horror, Housecore Records, and Live Nation, the PANTERA performance means more than simply the band’s return to New Orleans. The concert will also coincide with the 30th anniversary of the band’s 1996 album "The Great Southern Trendkill." PANTERA’s current lineup, led by Philip H. Anselmo and Rex Brown, features Zakk Wylde on guitar and Charlie Benante on drums.
Another major development for the weekend will be DOWN’s official record release show for "Volume V." Due out November 20, the album will open a new chapter for the band in 2026 as their first studio release since 2014’s "Down IV – Part Two." Set for release through Nuclear Blast Records, "Volume V" was produced by Eddie Mapp and DOWN, mixed by Dave Fortman, and mastered by Maor Appelbaum at Maor Appelbaum Mastering.
THE GREAT NOLA TRENDKILL will extend well beyond PANTERA and DOWN. BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, POWER TRIP, CROWBAR, EYEHATEGOD, PIG DESTROYER, RĀDE, and HERAKLEION are also among the announced acts. The individual day-by-day lineups, however, have yet to be revealed.
Another notable part of the festival will be the return of Housecore Horror to New Orleans. After more than a decade, Housecore Horror will return with horror movie screenings, special guests, artists, and various events taking place at venues across the city. This portion is not included in the two-day ticket package covering the arena shows, with further details expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Philip H. Anselmo, one of the central figures behind the event, commented on its return to New Orleans:
“To be back in New Orleans with such a package of bands and events is a dream come true. Besides PANTERA and DOWN, we have great NOLA and national bands playing, Housecore Records and Housecore Horror specialties, horror industry personalities, talented artists, and so much more.”
THE GREAT NOLA TRENDKILL’s artist presale began on September 8. Live Nation, Ticketmaster, and local presales will open on September 9, while the general on-sale begins at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026. The event will also offer various Travel VIP packages featuring options such as two-day festival tickets, a two-night hotel stay, an exclusive VIP merchandise item, and transportation to and from the festival grounds.

The strongest aspect of the event is not simply having two major names share the same weekend; PANTERA’s return to New Orleans after 30 years, the anniversary of "The Great Southern Trendkill," the release of DOWN’s "Volume V," and the return of Housecore Horror are all coming together in a single weekend.
