Colombian thrash metal band PERPETUAL WARFARE are entering a new album cycle under the banner of M-Theory Audio. “Nihil Sumus,” the first release from the Bogotá-based band following their signing with the label, is now available on digital platforms, accompanied by an official music video.

Reflecting the band’s 20-year history, “Nihil Sumus” will serve as both the first single and the title track of PERPETUAL WARFARE’s upcoming album. Bassist Wilson Muñoz says the song brings together the aggression the band has accumulated throughout two decades, while its central idea revolves around the notion that faith and hope are not always enough to make us confront our mistakes.

Vocalist and guitarist Camilo Muñoz describes “Nihil Sumus” as a reflection of the loneliness and depression that emerged in the aftermath of the pandemic. Built around intense riffs and screaming vocals, the song is, according to Muñoz, the heaviest track the band has written to date.

The new chapter extends beyond a change of record label. Formed in 2006 by brothers Camilo and Wilson Muñoz, PERPETUAL WARFARE have spent years operating on a DIY basis and building a live presence that extends well beyond South America. The band have performed in more than 20 countries, played 35 shows across the U.S., and toured Europe with Japanese cult band Abigail. Their live resume also includes appearances at 70,000 Tons of Metal, Knotfest events in Mexico and Colombia, Rock al Parque, and Winter Rising Fest.

One of the notable milestones in PERPETUAL WARFARE’s career came with two shows supporting MEGADETH at Bogotá’s Movistar Arena. The band reached nearly 30,000 people across the two nights and have also shared stages with SLAYER, SEPULTURA, ACCEPT, CORONER, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, TESTAMENT, and CANNIBAL CORPSE.

The signing also makes PERPETUAL WARFARE the first Colombian band to join the M-Theory Audio roster. After a long journey built entirely around the DIY ethos, Camilo Muñoz says the band considers M-Theory Audio the right partner for the next stage of their career.

PERPETUAL WARFARE’s new album is scheduled for release through M-Theory Audio in 2027. Before then, M-Theory Audio and Colombia’s REC Label will issue a limited 7-inch vinyl pressing of just 300 copies. The double A-side release will feature “Nihil Sumus” alongside the as-yet-untitled second single and is due out in October.

The band will also celebrate its 20th anniversary with a special XX Year Show at the 30th edition of Rock al Parque this year. The festival will take place October 10–12 at Simón Bolívar Park in Bogotá, with MINISTRY, TRYPTIKON, STRATOVARIUS, APOCALYPTICA, GRAVE, and HELLBUTCHER among the acts on the lineup.
