German metal band PINHEAD have released 'Pain Engine', the next single from their upcoming album “Beauty In Pain”, due out on November 13, 2026 via NoCut. Unlike the album’s more abstract and socially oriented themes, the song draws on personal experiences of relationships in which loyalty gradually turns into control and patience is eventually interpreted as weakness.

'Pain Engine' centers on the moment of breaking free after remaining silent for too long and allowing others to exploit that silence. Within the song’s narrative, personal growth is perceived as betrayal and self-protection as an attack, while years of accumulated experiences ultimately become the energy needed for change.

PINHEAD vocalist Ilja John Lappin explains that writing direct confrontation or diss tracks was never his way of dealing with conflict, but that certain experiences eventually made him feel the need to say some things out loud. For Lappin, music is the most honest way for him to confront this kind of conflict.

The song’s title reflects this transformation. In 'Pain Engine', pain is neither romanticized nor glorified, but treated as a force that makes movement and change possible. Ultimately, however, PINHEAD's narrative is less about anger or hatred than reaching a point where the people from the past no longer carry any meaning.

Lappin’s summary of the song’s central idea becomes particularly clear at this point: “In my world, they mean nothing anymore.”

As 'Pain Engine' becomes available to stream, the “Beauty In Pain” tour will also kick off on November 13, the day the album is released, with a show at Club Zentral in Stuttgart. PINHEAD will perform across Germany through the first week of December.
