The first wave of bands for RELOAD FESTIVAL 2027 has been announced. ELECTRIC CALLBOY and HEAVEN SHALL BURN will headline the festival’s next edition, which will take place in Sulingen, Germany, from August 12-14, 2027. The initial announcement features 30 bands in total, with a special CHILDREN OF BODOM performance also standing out among the highlights.

ELECTRIC CALLBOY will return to the RELOAD FESTIVAL stage as a headliner this time around. The band first appeared at the festival as an opening act in 2012 before returning in 2022. Bringing together elements of metal, electronic music, synth-pop and partycore, their 2027 appearance marks another chapter in their long-standing relationship with the festival.

HEAVEN SHALL BURN, meanwhile, will celebrate their 30th anniversary at RELOAD FESTIVAL with a special anniversary show. The Thüringen-based metalcore band will also draw from their current album, "Heimat", as part of the performance. According to the festival, the anniversary show will be a one-off event.

One of the most notable announcements in the first wave is the return of CHILDREN OF BODOM to the stage. Four of the band’s five original members will perform alongside Samy Elbanna (Lost Society), a close friend of Alexi Laiho. According to the festival, the performance is not intended as a CHILDREN OF BODOM comeback or a new beginning, but as a special tribute to the band’s legacy and to Alexi Laiho.

KANONENFIEBER will also make their RELOAD FESTIVAL debut in 2027. The band explores the human cost, loss and devastating consequences of the First World War, bringing these themes to the stage through their anonymous identity and elaborate live production.

THE BUTCHER SISTERS will make their third RELOAD appearance, bringing songs from their new album "Das Schwarze Album" with them. The band continues to build on its blend of metal, rap and hardcore with the new material.

JINJER will also return to RELOAD FESTIVAL for the third time in 2027. Known for their progressive metal approach, the Ukrainian band previously headlined the festival’s Thursday lineup in 2022.

Other names announced in the first wave include SKINDRED, HAMMERFALL, BEAST IN BLACK, IGORRR, CLAWFINGER, HYPOCRISY, MALEVOLENCE, ATREYU, MAKE THEM SUFFER, SHADOW OF INTENT, EMIL BULLS, HUMANITY'S LAST BREATH, MADBALL, CARNIFEX, THE BROWNING, OXO 86, BRAND OF SACRIFICE, BLOODRED HOURGLASS, MITTEL ALTA, INFECTED RAIN, PEELINGFLESH, FULCI, CALVA LOUISE and LEFT TO SUFFER.

Tickets for RELOAD FESTIVAL 2027 will go on sale on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time. While 30 bands have been revealed in the first announcement, the festival has confirmed that more names will be announced at a later date.
