REPLICANT and ELITIST Unite Their New Songs on a 40-Minute Split
REPLICANT ELITIST Unite
US death metal band REPLICANT and Danish group ELITIST have joined forces for a split album featuring entirely new material from both sides. Running at approximately 40 minutes, the release brings the two bands' dissonant and technical approaches to death metal together on a single recording, while REPLICANT also introduces a few surprises that push beyond the genre's established boundaries.
On REPLICANT's four-track side, the band's established sound is expanded with more experimental elements. Lisa Voisard contributes vocals to 'Breathe the Trepid Hole' and 'Shallow Then Halo', while the latter, the band's third track, stands out as a straight-up cover.
REPLICANT's version of 'Shallow Then Halo' is a new take on the song written by COCTEAU TWINS and originally released on the band's 1982 album "Garlands". As a result, REPLICANT's side of the split goes beyond new compositions, carrying the band's dissonant death metal approach into a different musical territory.
ELITIST make up the other half of the split with four new tracks. The release follows the Danish band's debut full-length, while its lineup features a connection to DYSGNOSTIC through Thomas Fischer, who handles both bass and vocals. Fischer is also a member of DYSGNOSTIC.
The collaboration also represents another example of the activity surrounding the Danish death metal scene to which ELITIST belong. The band's label has also released material from DYSGNOSTIC and CARBON TOMB this year.
The recording was completed with an experienced production team that further reinforces the collaboration between the two bands. Recorded, engineered, and mixed by KB Larsen, the release was mastered by AJ Viana. The album artwork was created by Alex Eckman-Lawn.
The split features REPLICANT's 'Anti-Cosmic Spiral', 'Breathe the Trepid Hole', 'Shallow Then Halo', and 'Menacing Void', followed by ELITIST's 'Enforced Malnourishment', 'Conflagration Beckons!', 'To Unsee, To Untether', and 'Proclaiming Sovereignty Over a Sunless Domain'.
The split from REPLICANT and ELITIST will be released on November 20, 2026.
