RIPPER Returns: A Deadly Riff Storm from Chile Reborn Through Towards Rebirth
Chilean extreme metal outfit RIPPER returns after a long period of silence with its new album Towards Rebirth. Following 2016’s Experiment of Existence, the band is preparing to unleash its first full-length in years, marking a powerful comeback on July 24 via Dark Descent Records.
In recent years, RIPPER has sharpened its brutality at the crossroads of death metal and thrash metal, and on this new record the band pushes that approach into a more compact and even more aggressive form. The album is described as one of the most destructive and intense works in their catalog to date, with razor-sharp guitar riffs, more dominant drumming, and song structures that lean into a far more direct assault.
The first single released from the album, “The Source Exterminator,” lays bare the band’s new era aesthetic with striking clarity. The track ramps up speed and aggression while maintaining RIPPER’s technical foundation, delivering a structure that refuses to sacrifice precision for sheer violence. This return is being seen as a strong contribution to the recent rise of the South American extreme metal scene.

Towards Rebirth will be released by Dark Descent Records on CD, vinyl, and digital formats. On the production side, recording, mixing, and mastering were handled at DM6 Studio by Pablo Clares. The album artwork comes from Paolo Girardi, whose dark and intricate visual language frames the release.
Among the track titles, songs such as “World of Darkness,” “Final Hologram,” “The Secret Dawn,” and the closing “Procession to the Eternal Rest” stand out. This ten-track release speaks directly to listeners devoted to the classic death and thrash metal tradition.
The new album particularly resonates with fans of early Sepultura, Kreator, Pestilence, and Sadus, positioning itself as a strong reference point within that lineage.
RIPPER’s return is not merely a comeback; it is also seen as further proof of how fierce, dynamic, and productive the South American extreme metal scene continues to be.
