RISE ABOVE DEAD Signs With Argonauta Records, New Album “Voidmass” Due This Autumn
RISE ABOVE DEAD Returns
Milan-based post-metal band RISE ABOVE DEAD have announced their signing with Argonauta Records and the release of their new studio album, “Voidmass”, this autumn. Adding further significance to the band’s return in 2026 is the comeback of founding vocalist Andrea Rondanini, who rejoins the lineup after a vocal-free period dating back to 2020.
Rondanini’s return also marks the beginning of a new phase in RISE ABOVE DEAD’s musical direction. While the band spent years focusing on instrumental structures and increasingly expansive cinematic atmospheres, vocals will once again move to the center of their sound in 2026. The band’s dark atmosphere and weighty dynamics, however, will remain intact.
Set to feature six tracks, “Voidmass” will bring together crushing post-metal, cinematic sludge, and dark emotional landscapes. The album’s first single and video are expected to arrive in the coming period.
RISE ABOVE DEAD’s new album era will not be limited to the studio. As the band prepares to return to the stage with a renewed lineup, they say they will place a stronger focus on live performances and their presence within the European underground scene.
RISE ABOVE DEAD began their journey in 2010 with the “Human Disintegration” EP, developing a raw sound shaped by crust and dark hardcore influences in their early years. Following the 2012 full-length “Stellar Filth”, 2015’s “Heavy Gravity” marked a turning point as the band moved into fully instrumental territory and began exploring broader, more cinematic soundscapes.
One of the clearest examples of this transformation came with 2020’s “Ulro”. Inspired by the work of William Blake, the psychedelic concept album explored themes of alienation, society, and inner collapse, bringing RISE ABOVE DEAD’s more experimental and conceptual side to the forefront. The album’s artwork was created by Solo Macello, while mastering was handled by Magnus Lindberg of CULT OF LUNA.
The band also say they particularly value their deal with Argonauta Records because of the label’s approach to the underground scene and independent heavy music. With “Voidmass” arriving this autumn, RISE ABOVE DEAD’s return to a vocal-driven era and their new beginning with the label will converge on the same record.
