SEID to Release New Album “Dystopolis” in December
Ancient Viking ideals collide with modern alienation.
Swedish black metal band SEID will release their sixth studio album, “Dystopolis”, on December 11 via ATMF, available on CD and vinyl. The album’s first track, ‘Wandering the Fields of the Slain’, is already available to hear.

SEID’s new album sets values traditionally associated with Viking culture—honour, courage, loyalty, strength and belonging—against the increasingly impersonal nature of modern society. “Dystopolis” centres on the conflict between these ancient ideals and a world shaped by alienation, anonymity and human relationships increasingly mediated by technology. This approach takes the album beyond a mere exploration of the Viking past, turning it into an examination of the place of the individual in contemporary society.
Musically, the album retains the band’s Viking black metal roots while combining raw Nordic black metal aggression with progressive structures, atmospheric passages and distinctive melodies. Moving between ferocious passages and more introspective, expansive sections, “Dystopolis” broadens SEID’s established sound through a range of musical approaches.
The album’s first single, ‘Wandering the Fields of the Slain’, is available to stream via ATMF’s Bandcamp page.
Led by creative force Seiðr, SEID’s line-up features Pär Johansson on drums and Alex “Phil A. Cirone” Purkis on bass. “Dystopolis”, the band’s sixth album, arrives on CD and vinyl on December 11. The album comprises eight tracks:
‘Hymn To Ivar’
‘The End Of Days’
‘My Kingdom Rise’
‘White Beast From Hel’
‘Nordmænnens Raseri’
‘Light Up The Sky’
‘Allfadir’
‘Hymns To The North’
