SEV LEZU Prepares for a Dark Ritual with Debut Album “Blood Conscript”

U.S.-based black metal outfit SEV LEZU is preparing to unleash their debut full-length album “Blood Conscript” upon listeners. Set for release through Ordovician Records on August 28, the album will arrive on vinyl, cassette, and digital formats. The band’s self-titled track “Blood Conscript” has already been released and is available across online platforms.
Formed in 2022 by musicians from the New York, Philadelphia, and Pacific Northwest scenes, SEV LEZU delivers a fierce approach on their debut album, merging the darkness of classic-era black metal with the crushing aggression of death metal. “Blood Conscript” stands out as a release that combines the band’s frigid atmospheres rooted in old-school Scandinavian black metal with relentless rhythms and vicious guitar work.

Recording, production, and vocal duties for the album were handled by the band’s drummer Sasha Stroud. Alongside Stroud, guitarist Melissa Moore and bassist FW are among the key figures shaping SEV LEZU’s dark musical vision. Former Impiety member Mia Priest also contributes to the album as a guest guitarist and songwriter on the track “Corpse Step.”
“Blood Conscript” follows a dark narrative built around ancient mythology, themes of death, and a sense of vengeance. While drawing inspiration from the majestic and ice-cold atmospheres of the Swedish black metal tradition and the more aggressive, occult-driven approach of Finland’s scene, the band also incorporates the raw energy of grind/death metal pioneers such as Terrorizer and Nasum, as well as the classic heavy metal dynamism of Iron Maiden, into their own sonic identity.
SEV LEZU’s music aims to merge the melodic darkness of bands like Dissection and Bathory with the ferocity of the late ’90s and early 2000s Finnish black metal scene, creating an attack that feels both nostalgic and contemporary. With “Blood Conscript”, the band pushes the spirit of traditional black metal into a more extreme and destructive form.

The album artwork was created by Tara Atefi, while the logo and visual details were designed by Elika Nakhaee. Featuring photography by Eva Tusquets, “Blood Conscript” was recorded between 2023 and 2025 at Artifact Audio NYC and the Portland studios, with all recording, mixing, and mastering handled by Sasha Stroud.
