German black metal outfit TABERNAKEL is preparing to unveil its debut full-length effort, Scheintaufe. The eight-track album is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026, through a collaboration between Iconoclasm Conquest and Death Ecstasis Productions.

Crafted entirely by the project's sole member, Ignis Nefandus, the record draws inspiration from the early spirit of black metal while deliberately steering clear of the overly sterile tendencies often associated with modern production. Across its nearly fifty-minute runtime, the album unfolds through cold atmospheres, sharp guitar work, and dark melodic textures.

Rather than serving as a nostalgic recreation, Scheintaufe seeks to channel the intensity and essence that defined black metal's formative years. This approach evokes the character of early works by genre pillars such as Immortal, Dodheimsgard, Ulver, and Forgotten Woods. On the production front, particular care has been taken to preserve a raw edge, while a balanced sound has been employed to ensure the compositions retain their natural dynamism.

The journey begins with the opening track “Krypta Des Sinnes” and continues through pieces such as “Im Nebel,” “Wie Die Gischt,” and the closing track “Ödnis.” Throughout the album, TABERNAKEL aims to maintain its dark atmosphere while keeping listeners engaged through its sense of momentum and intensity.
