Norwegian-based international progressive metal group TEMIC have released ‘Broken’, the second single from their upcoming album “Ceiba”, alongside a music video. Due out October 2, 2026 via Season of Mist, the band’s second album is built around themes of loss and grief, with the new track focusing on the end of a codependent relationship.

‘Broken’ unfolds through a more sparse arrangement driven by prominent electronic drums and ghostly synth layers. Fredrik Klemp’s vocals, meanwhile, emerge as the central element carrying the song’s fragile atmosphere. According to TEMIC, the track came together in around 30 minutes, without the band overthinking the process.

Klemp describes how ‘Broken’ came together: “We wrote the song in 30 minutes. It came together instinctively. There was no need to turn it into something more or make it into something different from what it was. We simply allowed it to become what it is.”

The vocalist also notes that his performance on the track is directly connected to personal experiences. Rather than distancing himself from those emotions, Klemp wanted to channel them through his voice. He says the performance was deliberately kept in a particularly fragile and unsteady place, adding that the fact that ‘Broken’ never reaches a clear resolution is also part of what makes the song feel honest.

‘Broken’ also serves as a gateway into the central narrative of “Ceiba”. The album takes its title from the sacred ceiba tree in Mayan culture, which represents a connection between earth, heaven, and the underworld. Keyboardist and sound designer Diego Tejeida points to the connection between this imagery and the album’s overarching theme of loss.

Drums and lead vocals for TEMIC’s second album were recorded at Lionheart Studio in Oslo, Norway. Tejeida handled the engineering and production of the lead vocals. “Ceiba” will be released as a CD digipak, in four different vinyl variants, and in digital formats.

‘Broken’ is the second advance single released from the album. The first single, ‘Ceased to Be’, was previously named Progressive Injection’s “track of the week”. With “Ceiba”, TEMIC will explore the theme of loss through a broader narrative that reflects the band’s recent direction.

Following the album’s release, the band will take its new material on the road during a European headline tour this autumn. TEMIC will be joined by special guests and fellow Season of Mist labelmates KINGCROW. The tour will begin on October 17 at the Ready For Prog Festival in Toulouse and conclude on October 24 at the Art Rock Festival in Toruń. The itinerary also includes stops in Munich on October 19 and Rüsselsheim on October 22.

“Ceiba” will be released on October 2, 2026 via Season of Mist.
