TERATUM’s First Strike: “Ordnance of Spiritual Warfare” Incoming
Ordnance of Spiritual Warfare
Swedish extreme metal formation TERATUM are preparing to make a powerful entrance onto the scene with their debut mini-album Ordnance of Spiritual Warfare. Set for international release on August 21 via Dying Victims Productions, the record will be issued on 12” vinyl and CD formats. The first audiovisual glimpse from the release has already been unveiled through the track “Leviathan Rise,” premiered via Deaf Forever.
Rising from the ashes following the dissolution of Beastiality in 2024, TERATUM quickly established a new identity, drawing attention with a promotional recording released in 2025. Now, the Swedish quartet return with their first full-scale statement—an assault that both carries echoes of their past and firmly asserts their own distinct character.

Musically, the band do not entirely abandon the razor-edged core of black thrash tradition; instead, they reshape it into something darker, denser, and at times more chaotic in atmosphere. The structure shifts between rapid, aggressive passages and more hypnotic, almost ritualistic transitions, giving the album a highly dynamic character. The old-school extreme metal influence is particularly evident in the guitar work, where it emerges with unmistakable clarity.
The mini-album spans four tracks and runs for approximately 21 minutes, featuring “Dead in the Marshes,” “Leviathan Rise,” “Total Void,” and “Metropolis of Death.” It stands as a strong reference point for listeners aligned with genre stalwarts such as Nifelheim, Desaster, Morbid, and Poison.
Regarded as TERATUM’s first major statement, Ordnance of Spiritual Warfare also offers significant clues about the band’s future direction. As the release date approaches, the “Leviathan Rise” video already lays bare the tone of this dark offensive.
