Swedish heavy rock and doom metal outfit THE SONIC OVERLORDS have returned with their new single, “Calling Demons By Your Name.” Accompanied by a new performance-based music video, the track also serves as a strong indication of what the band has in store with its upcoming material.

Released digitally via M-Theory Audio, the song brings together the band’s trademark crushing riff-driven approach with a more melodic sensibility. Defined by powerful guitar tones and an epic atmosphere, the track preserves THE SONIC OVERLORDS’ identity rooted in classic heavy metal while simultaneously opening the door to new musical directions.

Founder and guitarist Morgan Zocek noted that BLACK SABBATH’s influence was particularly prominent during the songwriting process, while also revealing that the chorus incorporates elements inspired by the melodic rock world. According to Zocek, this is a direction the band is eager to explore further in the future. He believes that enriching their doom and classic hard rock foundation with AOR-inspired melodies could help shape a distinctive sonic identity uniquely their own.

Formed in 2017, THE SONIC OVERLORDS first made waves throughout the underground metal scene with their 2021 debut album, “Last Days of Babylon.” By fusing the spirit of late-’70s and early-’80s classic hard rock with an epic doom metal approach, the band succeeded in capturing the attention of a broad audience.

With vocalist Marcus Zachrisson Rubin, bassist Daniel Ramírez, and drummer Michael Dahlqvist continuing to drive the band forward alongside the new single, THE SONIC OVERLORDS are aiming to further cement their place within the modern heavy rock landscape.
