THE VICE Blend Pop Melodies with Dark Metal on New Single “Heydays”
Pop Hooks Meet Dark Metal and Melancholy
Stockholm-based THE VICE have released their new single ‘Heydays’, accompanied by a music video. Out via Noble Demon, the track is the first preview of the band’s fourth studio album, which is now in the final stages of completion.
THE VICE describe ‘Heydays’ as a “bastardized pop-song” from their upcoming album. Built around a strong melodic hook, the track combines the band’s trademark melancholy with a more pronounced pop sensibility. The band say they were particularly drawn to the song’s eerie atmosphere, which evokes late-summer nights.
‘Heydays’ offers another example of THE VICE’s approach to bringing dark metal, rock 'n' roll, punk and hardcore together under a single musical identity. The band’s aesthetic draws on 1990s acts such as Guns N’ Roses, PANTERA and Oasis, as well as Prince, grunge culture and films from the era, including Fight Club, The Matrix and Terminator 2. These diverse influences inform the band’s approach to combining a dark metal foundation with melodic, streetwise rock elements.
Having released two EPs in 2025, “Red Tape Sessions” and “A Great Unrest”, THE VICE are now preparing their fourth studio album. The release date and further details have yet to be announced.
