Torpor Unveil New Single: “Dungeon Dwellers” and the Ascent from the Underground
New Single Ahead of Dungeon Descent Album
Polish ancient metal outfit Torpor have unveiled their new single “Dungeon Dwellers” ahead of their upcoming debut album Dungeon Descent. The track premiered via NoCleanSinging and serves as the second preview from the record, which is set for release on July 24 via Dying Victims Productions.
Hailing from Warsaw, the band was formed by three school friends who built their musical DNA heavily on the influence of Bathory. In their early recordings, Torpor fused an epic black metal aesthetic with the hazy atmosphere of 1980s heavy metal, gradually evolving toward a more distinctive and ritualistic narrative language over time.
Following their 2021 EP, the band underwent a lineup change, parting ways with their original drummer and reconfiguring their ranks with longtime collaborator Bloodhammer. This new phase directly shaped the recording process of Dungeon Descent, positioning the album as the most fully realized expression of the band’s vision to date.
The band emphasize that ideas long formed in underground rehearsal spaces have finally coalesced into a coherent whole. With this release, Torpor aim to channel both their raw energy and more refined narrative structures into a unified sonic statement.

“Dungeon Dwellers” stands as a strong example of this approach; combining dark storytelling, slow-burning riff structures, and intermittent epic surges, the track offers clear hints of the album’s atmosphere. Taken together with the previously released “Polybolos,” it becomes evident that Dungeon Descent constructs a fully cohesive world both in concept and sound.
The full tracklist of the album has also recently been revealed. Dungeon Descent invites the listener on a dark journey from subterranean tunnels back to the surface, while reinforcing Torpor’s ambition to redefine their “ancient metal” approach within the contemporary scene.
