Finnish-Mexican melodic death metal band ULTHIMA has unveiled the final single ahead of the release of its second studio album, “Midnight’s Call”, due out on November 27. The album’s title track serves as the final advance release from the band’s upcoming record, accompanied by a music video directed by Héctor Estrada and Ricardo Escobar.

Guitarist and composer Ricardo Escobar says that ‘Midnight’s Call’ was the final song composed for the album, and that once it was finished, the band knew they had found the main single for their second album. According to Escobar, the track brings together ULTHIMA’s melodic death metal approach through heavy yet melodic intros, hard-hitting sections and catchy choruses.

The song’s lyrics deal with the price of pursuing success, power and fame. The track is built around a metaphor that questions the willingness to abandon one’s principles and morals in order to reach a desired destination, and even the possibility of losing one’s identity along the way. At the heart of Escobar’s statement is the question of whether losing yourself in pursuit of an achievement is really worth it.

The new single is also available on music streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal and Amazon Music.

“Midnight’s Call” will be ULTHIMA’s second studio album, with recording having begun in mid-2024. The band’s history dates back to its formation in Monterrey, Mexico, in 2010. After a period of inactivity, the band reformed in Helsinki in 2018, completed its lineup and went on to prepare its debut full-length, “Symphony of the Night”.

“Midnight’s Call” will be released on November 27.
