UNDER AUBURN SKIES Set to Release New EPc
New EP Diminisher Of Hope
U.S. metalcore outfit UNDER AUBURN SKIES is counting down to the release of its new EP, Diminisher Of Hope. The six-track effort will arrive on July 17 in digital and CD formats, but ahead of its official release, Decibel Magazine is exclusively streaming the record in full.
Consisting of six tracks, Diminisher Of Hope embraces a darker atmosphere and more emotionally charged themes than the band's previous releases. Blending crushing riffs with melodic passages, the EP features drum recordings by Nick Nodurft at Rusty Sun Studios, while Emilio Lujan handled the guitar and bass recordings. Vocals and additional guitars were recorded by Jaxon Stunden at The Blasting Room. The EP was mixed and mastered by Chris Wiseman, with artwork created by Róbert Horváth.
Vocalist Sebastian Gorklo describes the new EP as a major milestone in his songwriting journey. He explains that most of the lyrics were inspired by personal experiences and the people who have shaped his life over the past few years, adding that "Final Sin" is the song that means the most to him. According to Gorklo, the track reflects the deepest wounds left by a challenging and transformative period in his life. Meanwhile, "World-Eater" draws on his observations of the growing social division within his country.
Sharing its thoughts on the release, Decibel Magazine praised the EP for successfully combining emotionally weighty lyrics with a melodic yet punishing approach to metalcore.
UNDER AUBURN SKIES will also bring the new EP to the stage. Following a special hometown release show in Denver on July 31, the band will share the stage with Fear Factory and Darkest Hour this November. Additional live dates are currently in the works.
Since making its mark on the Denver metal scene with its 2018 debut Afterimage and the 2021 EP Invention Of Reason, UNDER AUBURN SKIES has continued to build momentum, earning recognition through live performances alongside Born Of Osiris, Norma Jean, Carnifex, Enterprise Earth, and Fallujah. With Diminisher Of Hope, the band now aims to carry that momentum onto the international stage.
