U.S. doom/death metal outfit WHARFLURCH is set to release its long-awaited sophomore album, "Mycodeath and Rebirth in the Outer Clusters", on September 25. The record will arrive through a collaboration between multiple labels across various physical formats, while the first preview comes in the form of the newly unveiled track 'Forgotten Temple'.

Continuing the sci-fi concept introduced on 2021's "Psychedelic Realms ov Hell", the band expands its narrative into a far more ambitious universe on the new album. While following the journey of the original record's protagonist, the story shifts its focus to the grand design of mysterious fungal entities shaping Earth's destiny on a galactic scale. In doing so, WHARFLURCH once again fuses its psychedelic atmosphere with an even broader cosmic narrative.

Crafted by the band's creative duo, John Mamo and Myk Colby, the album brings together science fiction, horror, and death metal within a single conceptual framework. Musically, it aims to build on the band's previous work with crushing doom/death riffs, unexpected twists, and layers of synthesizers that reinforce its otherworldly atmosphere.

Vocal duties are shared between Mamo and Colby, while MAUL frontman Garrett Alvarado appears as the voice of the "Sporelords". Jamie Stewart of THE ABSENCE, PARTY TIME, and HOT GRAVES also contributes throughout the album as both narrator and guest vocalist. The use of multiple voices adds a more cinematic dimension to the album's conceptual storytelling.

The album artwork once again bears the unmistakable signature of Claw//Eight, who has shaped the band's visual identity for years. His psychedelic horror-inspired artwork stands out as a key element in bringing the album's science fiction atmosphere to life.

"Mycodeath and Rebirth in the Outer Clusters" will be released on September 25 in vinyl, CD, and cassette formats. The album's first single, 'Forgotten Temple', is available to stream now.
